First Day of Kindergarten

Eleanor on her first morning of Kindergarten.
We left at 7:50am for an 8am arrival.
"Learning Time" starts at 8:10am...this is more difficult than preschool's 9am start! Although the kids have been waking up between 5:30 -6:30 so it was easier to get out the door than I thought it would be, phew! Eventually we might try walking...we live 0.7 miles from the school, hence no bus service during the school year. I got spoiled during K-Prep!
Eleanor found her seat at the Blue Table.
She was so excited and all smiles. What a big girl!

National Zoo

Lions & Tigers & Bears, Oh My!
Monkeys...
Oscar had fun trying to get this chimpanzee statue wear his hat.

I captured this shot outside, in the wild if you will, while walking back to the car.

Memorials

Drew & Eleanor praying at the Wall.
We told the kids to be quiet & respectful when walking the Vietnam Wall. They asked why and we said because it was to remember soldiers that fought in a war and that people came to pray. They said "Then why aren't we praying?" and proceded to do so!

It was so nice to have company this weekend! The kids loved being with their beloved Drew again, it had been since May that they had played together.
After we had left Oscar asked if we could go back and see the big man...Lincoln knows how to make an impression on a busy 2 year-old! We also saw the WWII Memorial at dusk. So impressive with all the water features but not good for pictures with my camera!
