Diva Paddle 2010

Eleanor's first Diva Paddle! (Diva meaning women only)
She was given a special paddle to use with moons & stars on it.
Grandma Judi all dressed up in her blue sprayskirt and matching lifejacket.
We were in a triple kayak and Eleanor did a great job following Grandma's lead while paddling.
The Time Bandit was in Ketchikan, taking a break from filming "Deadliest Catch."
I thought this photo looked funny because it looks like Eleanor is waving, but really it is Grandma's arm in the black raincoat waving to the boys up on the shore!
The salmon were everywhere, their fins breaking the surface and jumping out of the water as they returned to Creek Street. The best was a seal that kept popping up to say Hello! He was so close we could see his eyes & whiskers.

Family Hike

Eleanor & Oscar hiking the trail down to the Coast Guard Beach.
Kristian was so impressed that we were all hiking as a family.
In years past, we have had children in backpacks or home with Grandparents. Now they are both able to walk along with us and not request rides!
Starfish!

The crabs were feisty!
Eleanor throwing rocks with Guard Island in the background.
The boys hiking along the rocks.
Throwing rocks.
Ants on a log!

Eye'm Silly

More silliness...Eleanor modeling Madisen's glasses she earned as a good girl at the dentist. Oscar says he wants to go to her dentist too!

Ward Lake

We walked around Ward Lake with cousin Anna.
Silliness on the "Dinosaur Tree"

Swimming at Settler's Cove

Eleanor swimming in the tube
Oscar enjoying a ritz cracker on the point.
It was a lovely Sunday evening swim with the Jorgens and their dog Brandi!

Twins

Madisen & Eleanor posing next to the irises Daddy sent us.
They are both wearing Eleanor's favorite dress, I had left the smaller one here last summer and then found a larger one at a consignment sale. They were too cute at church, being asked if they were twins.

A morning on the Silvertip

Poppa Ronnie teaching Oscar the ropes at the helm.

Pulling in to Silver Lining Seafoods/Trident to offload Poppa's catch.
A US Coast Guard buoy tender & a seiner heading north in the Tongass Narrows.
Float planes were taking off and landing constantly.
The Diamond Princess cruise ship was one of four in port today.
Poppa working hard in the fish hold to fill up the large white bucket they use to hoist the salmon up to the dock where they weigh and grade them.
Eleanor & Oscar watching from above.
Up comes the full bucket!
Where did he go?
There he is!
Poppa popping up out of the "woodchuck hole" as he calls the lazarette. It's a storage area for gaff hooks, lines, bumpers, etc.
Oscar trying to help Poppa melt ice with the hose so he can make sure the fish holds are empty.
It was an extreme low tide, the children had fun looking at tube worms, starfish and anenomes.
Clipper & Oscar being silly!
Tying up back at the dock.

Tourists

Oscar checking out the new bronze statue downtown on the cruise ship dock.

Water Boy

Pure entertainment for boys: water and a bucket!

Oscar had so much fun playing with the water pump at Ward Lake...I think we would still be there if I hadn't made him leave!
