Family Prom Night

Sweet as a rose.

Daddy gave Eleanor & I beautiful orchid corsages.
Our church held its first ever Family Prom night,
we went all out & had a wonderful time!
Eleanor was thrilled to be able to borrow Mommy's dangly earrings and necklace.
Aren't they just too cute?
How precious will these photos become one day when they attend their own, gulp, high school prom? And for the record, Oscar was very compliant both being fitted for and wearing his tuxedo! Now, to get him to smile and not turn away for pictures...that's another story.

Oscar & I cutting a rug on the dance floor.
He spent lots of time outside on the steps "getting fresh air" until he met another little buddy named Andrew who ironically is only two days younger! They were peas in a pod, running around being comedians together. Must have been a second born boy thing.
Note the chocolate brownie on his face, he loved the endless dessert bar!
My sweetie and I.

Cinderella fell asleep in the car and had to be carried in...what a sweetheart.

Girls Day Out

Eleanor receiving her first manicure & pedicure.
She was too cute picking out her polish color (purple for her toes and pink for her fingers!) and even got to sit on my lap with her feet in the foot bath during my pedicure. When she had her hands under the ultraviolet dryer she said it "was so hot, like 5,000 degrees!" She made up the number as it was on the top of the handdryer...I love that she is reading now and hearing her interpretations.
She wanted a cheeseburger afterwards, not my first choice but it was her morning. There was a Johnny Rockets across the street, she also had a vanilla milkshake and played "Brown Eyed Girl." Then we read and checked out a few books from the library. What a memorable morning.
And what were the boys doing? Boy stuff: changing the oil in the truck!

Everythings coming up Roses

The rose bush in the backyard is full of blooms right now.
It's such a treat to sit on the patio and smell them!

National Cathedral

It was a beautiful day...my friend Marthalee stole me away (while the children were both in school!) on a surprise trip to the Flower Mart held at the National Cathedral. It is her annual tradition, we enjoyed delicious vendor food and shopping. I only wish we had more timeto spend...next year!

New Earrings!

Showboat Oscar!
I was trying to take Eleanor's photo as she was finally done with her 6 weeks of waiting to change her earrings. We had to run into another room & close the door to get a photo without him in it!

Silly Oscar

Every morning, immediately after bringing Eleanor to school for 8am, Oscar is ready to play outside. He loves gardening, or as I call it, digging a hole! He likes to bring out all his tools to help him, gets super dirty, but has a blast doing it.
Here he is modeling his new glow-in-the-dark Batman underoos. Or shall we call them hataroos? He loves to make people laugh...such a comedian.
Blue Slushee at Target. Need I say more?

Azaleas & Clematis

The clematis on the side of the house produced multiple blooms the last week of April.

We have been enjoying a rainbow of azaleas in our backyard.

Nice or Naughty?

Kristian was out of town for work and I captured these silly munchkins whom I love so much being both naughty and nice!

Surprise!

We surprised Nana for her birthday by meeting halfway in SW Pennsylvania at a mountaintop cottage! A great time was had by all, including Sophie & Jasmine!
Eleanor getting a piggyback ride from Greg.
King of the World!
Uncle Ben helped Oscar do a little tree climbing.
The cottage was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, a perfect weekend getaway.
Auntie Bekah & Eleanor preparing fruit for breakfast.
Happy Birthday Nana!
Now let's all eat chocolate CAKE!!!

Oscar kept wanting to play pool & darts downstairs...we wanted to visit fireside so we brought the darts up to him. Watch out, he's almost got this game figured out! Thank goodness they were plastic tips.

Arlington Cemetery

The wisteria were lovely in this garden gazebo.

Mount Vernon

Grandma Judi & Eleanor waiting in line for the mansion tour.
Kristian graciously entertained Oscar while we ladies went on the tour. This is the view of the Potomac River as seen from the front porch of Mount Vernon.
I didn't want a repeat of when Eleanor was asked to leave Monticello when she was two!
Rocking in the infamous chairs on the front porch.

National Treasure seekers!
Oscar found this hideout while we were on the tour and wanted to show it to Eleanor.

The rosebud trees were beautiful, as were the vibrant green leaves unfolding.
